DCELP Family Reunion

We left the house at 4 AM on Saturday morning for Daytona!  We actually flew into Orlando and then drove about an hour to Port Orange which is just a few miles from Daytona.  We met 7 other friends there and had a great time!

At this point we were still in the parking garage, but it felt like a success because we had made it out of the house on time, hadn't forgotten anything, and E slept on the way to the airport!

We checked our bags and made it through security and were looking pretty tired, but we were ready to fly!

Loaded onto the plane, ready to go, taxied away from the gate...

…"Uh…Ladies and gentlemen, sorry there is going to be a little delay, we have a maintenance issue."

We sat on the plane for 2 hours while they figured out the issue, got the part, and then fixed the problem.  Meanwhile, E was doing great!  She didn't seem to notice and we just tried to keep her as busy as possible.  I was grateful they realized there was a problem and were able to fix it!  Also, that we didn't have to get back off the plane and onto another.

Buckled back in and up in the air!

Here we come Florida!

The house we all rented together sat right on the ocean.  This view is from the back deck.

We went right out to the beach once we arrived.  Eleanor was so happy to run!

She would have run straight into the water if we had let her!  She was not intimidated at all by the ocean!

She even tried to chase this cute little crab.

Our room for the week.  We were very thankful for a room with a bathroom and tub!

Our path to and  from the ocean

Sunrise on Sunday, Father's Day

E lounging in her Florida flamingo pjs.

Happy girl!

Our friends brought a tent for shade,  it was wonderful!!

Happy Father's Day to the best daddy Eleanor could ask for!

Eleanor loved the water!

Craig went "surfing" several times.  We also saw lots of dolphins.

The first morning on the beach, she wasn't too sure about the sand.  She was happy to sit on my lap or the towel and play.  Eventually she was worn out!

All cleaned up and ready for some amazing pork that had been smoking for over 12 hours!

Day 2 on the beach:  happy to dig and play in the sand…while sitting on the towel.

Our group all cleaned up and out for dinner on the pier.

Craig and his best bud Dave

All done with dinner, headed back to the house

Day 3:  Sitting in the sand and loving it!

Sunset

Sunrise Wednesday morning…time to go home.  It was a beautiful morning to watch the sunrise over the ocean one last time.

From the ocean, looking at the back of the house we stayed in.

Lots of good memories made!!

Back on the plane, no delays, great trip!

Craig and I got complimentary beers on the way to FL because of the 2 hour delay.  On our way home, we happened to be traveling on Southwest Airline's birthday, so we also got complimentary drinks!  Can't argue with that!
