Great Weekend

Saturday:
Congratulations to Sarah and Eric - proud homeowners!!! I got to spend some time with them Saturday getting things moved and organized in their new home. It is a great house in a beautiful neighborhood. (Same phone number if wish to call and congratulate!)

Sunday:
All the Bartons headed to the farm to celebrate Cori's birthday and of course, do some work. It was a beautiful day! (Just call Craig "The animal whisperer")

Spring fix

Random flower pics that I have taken over the past year or so...just needed a spring fix. This spring has been chilly and wet. I'm ready for some sunshine and warmth!

Remembering Mini 08

I came across some old pictures and found some of last year's mini marathon.

Eric and I got to start in the same corral last year (we are standing under the F.) I remember the weather being a little chilly at the start, but knew it was going to be warm enough to wear light clothing for the rest of the 13 miles as it warmed up. The sun came out half way through the morning and really made it sunny and hot. My goal last year was to beat my time from 2007. Craig also teased me that if I didn't get under 2 hours, he wasn't taking me home. Thank goodness I was 7 seconds under 2 hours! With no training this year, the goal is to finish and have a great time doing it!

This is the starting line for the wheelchairs. They get a 5 minute head-start.

Front of the line for the elites

Many people participate in the mini for different reasons. These firemen made quite a statement in their full gear. I am looking forward to this year's race in a couple of weeks!

Ellettsville/Bloomington visit

Quick update: Interview went well...It lasted an hour and half! My impression of the office is that it would be a GREAT place to work. Supposed to hear something in the next week or two.

This is us at a Starbucks in Bloomington. We aimlessly drove around for a while looking for "For Rent" signs and decided we weren't making much progress. We stopped and bought a couple newspapers for some listings. The one that was listed as a "cute yard" was a total dump. The only two that we are interested in we found by just driving around. It was the slow start of trying to find somewhere to live!

Good Friday

Yay for a day off! I have been able to enjoy the day by spending time with Craig! Too bad he has so much school work to do.

We finally broke down and decided to hire the work out on our house that we could do ourselves...if only we had the time. The same guy who worked on the walls is doing a lot of finishing work. He only worked 4 hours yesterday and got soooo much done! Hopefully I get the chance to post some pictures later. The goal is to get all the supplies ready tonight to install the living room floor tomorrow!

Some exciting news: I have an interview with a dental office near Bloomington!! I got a call yesterday and could barely contain my excitement. The doctor was very easy to talk with over the phone and was willing to accommodate my schedule for an interview! The information I obtained from their website makes this seem like a great opportunity and great office to work for. Please pray that I am a good match for this office.

More good news: Taxes are done....and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be!

It's been a while...

A few things have happened over the past several weeks...

1) Definitely number one on my list of highlights was spending 1:58:43 with my sister completing a 15K in Indy. We jogged about 80% of it and walked the rest. We enjoyed the beautiful morning catching up with each other. Normally I would run the race, but since I have done very little training, it was great to take it easy and truly enjoy the race. That doesn't mean that I wasn't sore after the race. My hips and legs were pretty stiff. Most of the time when Sarah was walking, I was still jogging just to keep up with her walk pace! She is a fast walker! I think she surprised herself by the amount of jogging that she did because most of her training has been walking. She did great and I had a blast!

2) We have made some progress on the house. The carpet was installed in the master bedroom and closet by a guy who was more interested in telling Craig his medical issues, family history, and all his family's medical issues than actually working. In the end, after it took him 3 hours to install it, I'm not that impressed. However, we aren't sure if it would be worth the time to bring the guy back to "fix" the problem.
The master bed and bath are painted and ready for trim when Craig has time. Hopefully that means that we can move back into the bedroom soon. I have one room left to paint and then I can retire the paintbrush and nurse the huge callous on my hand.

3) I had some quality time with two grandpas at one time! My Grandpa Woody went with me to visit my Grandpa Beynon on his birthday. My Grandpa Beynon has been living in an assisted living facility for a couple weeks and it has been great to see the some improvements in my grandpa due to the social and mental stimulation. We have had some good conversations!

4) Craig went to an investment conference in Ohio for three days and really enjoyed it. He heard some really great speakers and learned a lot. However, I'm not sure the last time that we spent three days apart...definitely before we were married. I wasn't sure I would survive, but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Actually the weather was very nice and I got to do some outside yard work and not really notice that he wasn't home. I did receive a friendly visit from a Clinton City Police Officer who stopped by to remind me that there is no burning in the city. I had a small little fire...just burning some stick and leaves...Ugg! So to avoid a hefty $25 fine, I decided to put my fire out. How annoying!

5) When Craig and I were first dating, I always told him that I was number four on his list. First was his truck, second his dog, third his cell phone, and then me! So far I have gotten rid of number one and two. This week, a disaster/miracle happened when he lost his cell phone! I suddenly moved to number ONE! However, Craig doesn't really know how to function without his phone, so it was mostly a disaster. We still haven't found his phone, but he has found a phone to use in the mean time. Also, I think the laptop has moved into the equation and I not sure what to do about that...

The main reason I haven't posted lately is because Craig is never home with the laptop. This has also prevented me from doing our taxes. The goal is to start our taxes Thursday night and hopefully finish on Friday. Wish me luck!
